Andrew & Amy
Amy began her dance training at an early age and has been teaching for over 15 years. Her choreography has received many top awards at both regional and national competitions. Some of her additional training includes summer intensives with Ballet Magnificat and Master classes with Ballet Met in Columbus Ohio and the Cincinnati Ballet. She has also been involved with worship ministries in several churches, desiring to help bridge the gap between creative arts and church ministry. Amy is a graduate of Liberty University with a BS in Youth Ministries. Youth ministry is where her love of dance and passion for Jesus Christ collide. She believes that the arts are a wonderful tool to help young people's hearts connect and grow deeper in love with the Creator.
Andrew is a graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Biblical Studies. He has served in various ministries, camps, and teen programs throughout the past decade. Andrew has been actively involved with youth in this area for the past several years, previously working for Lee County Parks and Rec as the director over teen after school and camp programs at Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center. In his free time, Andrew loves being with his family in the outdoors. Andrew and Amy have three children; ages 10, 8, & 5.
Karen has been a Lee County resident for 21 years and is originally from the West Palm Beach area. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She has more than 25 years' experience in administrative, sales and marketing fields. Karen is passionate about using her abilities to bring Christ-centered programs to our youth. In her free time, she enjoys travel, DIY projects, and fitness. She and her husband, Steve, have been married for 27 years. They have one daughter, Jilan - a dancer at Maranatha since age 4.
Ms Amy C took her first ballet class at age 7 at Ballet Magnificat’s studio in Mississippi and has been dancing ever since. Most of her training has been through teachers and dancers with Ballet Magnificat, as well as teachers from Russia and a teacher who danced for Balanchine. She has performed many variations en pointe as well as danced in the Nutcracker alongside professional dancers. Amy C became a part of the Maranatha family at age 16 and started teaching not long after. Amy C also started Maranatha’s first ministry team, Agape Dance, because of her passion for using the arts as an outreach, mentor tool and community builder. Outside of the ballet world, Dance Revolution was her biggest influence, which she has attended since her first year at Maranatha, eventually bringing her own choreography to the showcase. Amy C lived in upstate New York for a short period and taught at a local studio there, as well as provided choreography for their competition teams and soloists. Once back at Maranatha she has taught a wide variety of classes, been a part of the STEP and STAR Leadership programs, and served with Momentum Company.
Miss Jody grew up in Boston where her mother co-owned and operated a dance studio. It was there she found gymnastics and was trained for several years at Gymnastic Junction in Massachusetts. She continued dance and gymnastics through her childhood. She later married and moved to SW Florida with her husband and two children. She became very involved with gymnastics again with her daughter who took up gymnastics, going on to be a level 8 gymnast competing all over the state. Jody was able to assist in coaching and training of children at her daughter’s gym. She choreographed and taught tumbling at an elementary school, through her church, and for Pop Warner Cheer doing performances, talent shows, and going on to win a title for her team. Jody also choreographed and instructed an education DVD for Larry Bell. Jody holds a BLS with a Specialization in Psychology. After 10 years at the Lee County Schools, she became a Certified Child Protective Investigator for the Department of Children and Families. Jody’s philosophy is that every child can dance, perform and thrive given the right environment.
Miss Natalie has been dancing since the age of two. She started assisting dance classes at age 10 and began teaching ballet, jazz, and tap classes by age 15. Natalie graduated from Cypress Lake Center for the Arts dance department. She had the opportunity to further her dance education at Bates College in Maryland, Jacobs Pillow in Western Massachusetts, and New World School in Miami. Since then, she has been teaching and performing with different dance companies and entertainment groups. Some of the styles of dance she enjoys are hip-Hop, tap, ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, and Zumba.
Miss Paula founded Maranatha Dance over 30 years ago. She began dancing at the age of two and a half after her doctor’s recommendations, following foot surgery. She has been dancing ever since. Her earlier training was predominately in New Orleans with Rosa Spika of the NYC Ballet and Rosemary Clement a former Rockette Dancer. She continued her training with Briarwood Ballet in Alabama. Additionally she has received training at Ballet Magnificat! and Dance Revolution. She has over 50 years teaching experience in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro and worship dance to all ages.
Ms. Carla has been teaching various types of dance to all ages since 2016. Before that she completed a year of training with Ingredients Dance Company and traveled around the country with them to perform and hold dance conferences. Currently, she is furthering her education and knowledge of the body through the Physical Therapist Assistant program with Hodges University.
Ms. Gracie has been teaching at Maranatha Dance for three years. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and then moved to San Antonio, Texas due to her dad’s service in the military. When she moved to Southwest Florida in 2014, she took up dance as a hobby that soon became a passion. Ms. Gracie took classes at Maranatha for six years. She is a 2019 graduate of Maranatha’s STAR Leadership program and a former member of Momentum Company. She has attended and gained dance experience in a variety of dance genres through Dance Revolution. Ms. Gracie’s favorite styles of dance include contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. Currently, Ms. Gracie is attending Florida Gulf Coast University where she is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science. She plans to continue on to get a master’s degree in Athletic Training. In her spare time, she enjoys watching sports including WWE, MLB, NBA, and NFL. She enjoys spending time with her family and taking family trips to Disney World. Ms. Gracie is very excited to be teaching another season at Maranatha Dance!
Ms. Allison has been dancing with Maranatha for six years and has been with Momentum Company for four seasons. She gained training through Dance Revolution, the Student Teacher Education Program, and the STAR program. Her favorite genres of dance are ballet and jazz. In her free time, she likes to bake, craft, and read her Bible. Her favorite bible verse is Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
Ms. Faith is in her 11th season with Maranatha. She started when her older sister first enrolled, and then she fell in love with it and has been dancing ever since. She has enjoyed being on Momentum Company for three years. Faith has been a part of the Student Teacher Education Program and graduated from the STAR Leadership Program in the Spring of 2020. She has also gained dance training at Dance Revolution for two years. Her favorite dance styles are lyrical and hip hop. In her free time she enjoys cooking, organizing, and spending time with friends. One of her favorite verses is 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
Ms. Hannah is in her 10th season with the Maranatha family and is a 2019 graduate of Maranatha’s STAR Leadership program. She has been a member of Momentum Company for five seasons and enjoys pointe/ballet and contemporary. Ms. Hannah has had dance training through a four-week summer intensive with Ballet Magnificat, six conventions with Dance Revolution, and multiple Gulfshore Ballet workshops. In her free time, she loves shopping, reading, and cooking. Her favorite bible verse is Psalm 55:22. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. This season is Ms. Jilan’s second season teaching, her seventh season on Momentum Company, and her 12th season with Maranatha. When asked about her favorite part of teaching she says, “I really love sharing two things that I’m passionate about with the next generation: dance and Jesus.” Besides dance, Jilan also loves photography and cinematography. She likes to take photos and videos of her friends and family. Her dog Dash, a Belgian Malinois, is one of her favorite subjects for a photo shoot. In her free time, Jilan listens to music and watches lots of Disney+.
Ms. Kaylee is in her seventh season with the Maranatha family. She accredits her love for dance and teaching to the staff at Maranatha. In her time with the studio, she has spent three seasons dancing with Momentum Company, participated in three Dance Revolution conventions in Orlando, and graduated from the STAR Leadership program. Ms. Kaylee’s favorite style of dance is tap. In her spare time she likes to craft and read quotes. Her favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through him who gives me strength. Ms. Mary is in her ninth season with Maranatha, and she has danced with Momentum Company’s outreaches for three seasons. She has a love for ballet and has had tech training through Ballet Magnificat and Dance Revolution. Her favorite bible verse is Revelation 21:5. And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” (ESV)
