JAZZ- A form of dance that showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves and isolations, complex footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong foundation in ballet technique.
Jazz 1 - This class is designed for students who are in 3rd grade and up, as well as students who have completed primary jazz and have been promoted by teacher recommendation. Students will have fun dancing to upbeat music, learning basic jazz movements and correct technique, and gaining flexibility and core strength. Students typically spend a minimum of 2 years at each level. (45 minutes)
Jazz 2 (teacher placement required) – This class is for the intermediate student who has completed at least 2 years of jazz training. In this fast paced class, students will participate in stretching, progressions across the floor, expanding their jazz knowledge, and improving technique. (45 minutes)
Jazz 3 (teacher placement required) – Students advancing into this class are given the opportunity to expand their knowledge of jazz dance, and are challenged to more complex progressions, continued improvement of strength and flexibility, as well as a deeper focus on technical execution. (45 minutes)
Jazz 4 (teacher placement required) – This class is for advanced students with the technical maturity to apply their own corrections, grow in their versatility of jazz styles, and be challenged to intricate combinations and progressions, while continuing to increase strength, flexibility, and execution. (45 minutes)
Hip Hop 1- This class is designed to train dancers in freestyle movement as well as introduce the foundational styles of hip-hop. While listening to wholesome cutting-edge music, students learn to express themselves through the art of movement. (45 minutes)
Hip Hop 2/3 (age 12+)- This fast-paced class is designed to challenge dancers in freestyle movement and experiment with the various styles of hip-hop such as breaking, locking, housing, popping, and krumping. While listening to wholesome cutting-edge music, students learn to express themselves through the art of movement. (45 minutes)
